If you need help right now: the Veterans Crisis Line answers day or night, free and confidential. In the United States, dial 988 and then press 1, or text 838255, or chat online at veteranscrisisline.net. Outside the United States, the room asks where you are and gives your country’s line; the lines we have verified are listed on the Sign Up page.

WORDS FOR MY WARRIORS

Some stories should never be lost.

The door.

Free for every veteran. Always. Nothing to buy, nothing to download — open your seat, then just talk.

Two ways in. Open your own free seat, or, if a facility, a post or a sponsor gave you one, I was given a code. Either way, it is the same room and the same seal.

I was given a code — or I already have mine.

Like: river lantern oak 42. Spaces or dashes both work. Lost it? Your recovery code (its own number, four words and two digits) opens your story too — type it in the same box.

A code from a veterans’ home, a post or a sponsor is two words and four numbers, like cedar harbor 4821. Type it in the same box: it opens your own free seat, in the same room, sealed the same way.

Open your own free seat.

Sign-up opens soon.

Until the door opens, write to info@lovingmywords.com and a person will answer.

Help a veteran back in.

For a recovery helper: your helper’s code (five words and two numbers) and the words HELP THEM BACK IN. A new seat code goes to the veteran’s own email — never to you, and never to this screen.

Not sure what to do here? Questions about this page.

What is a seat code?

A short seat number, three plain words and two digits, like 48213 river lantern oak 42. You can say it or type it. The number is not secret: it tells the door which seat is yours. The words and digits open your room and your story, so keep them private. A code given out before the number was added still works, just as it is.

What is a recovery code?

Its own short number, four plain words and two digits, shown once beside your seat code. It is never mailed, so write it down when it is shown. It opens your story too, if your seat code is ever lost. Keep it somewhere safe, or give it to someone you trust.

What does it cost me?

Nothing, ever. Your seat is carried by Sponsor a Warrior, never by you. If anyone ever asks you to pay for this room, they are not us.

Do I need an email?

No. If you give one, we send your seat code there once, and one short note when your book is ready — nothing else, ever. Your recovery code is never mailed. Write both codes down when they are shown.

I lost my seat code.

Type your recovery code in the same box — it opens your story too. If both codes are lost, write to info@lovingmywords.com and a person will open you a new seat, but your story is sealed under your own codes, and we keep no copy of them and never try to open a story, so the old one stays sealed. Keep them somewhere safe, and take your book home from the book page whenever you like.

Who can see my story?

You, with your codes — and a helper, only if you name one. It is sealed on Loving My Words’ own server, designed so that no staff member, sponsor or family member can open it without one of your codes.
